Position Summary:
Seeking a Medical Billing and Coding Specialist for a medical group in the Evansville, IN area.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for answering in-bound calls and assisting patients with insurance related services
- Obtain patient information by answering telephone calls; interviewing patients; verifying information
- Contact insurance companies for benefit investigation and coverage eligibility
- Check claim status and follow up with denials
- Correct and resubmit rejected claims according to individual insurance plan requirements in an efficient manner to receive payments
- Perform refunds
- Provide patients with courteous, friendly, fast and efficient service
- Contact patients to verify correct address information
- Work efficiently both individually and within a team to accomplish required tasks
- Maintain and improve quality results by adhering to standards and guidelines and recommending improved procedures
- Excellent listening skills and the ability to ask probing questions, understand concerns, and overcome objections
- Minimum one year of experience in a healthcare setting, insurance adjudication or relevant work experience
- Experience working with Medicaid, Medicare and all major medical insurance carriers
- Familiarity with ICD-10
- Previous data entry experience
- Strong work ethic and self-starter, able to effectively manage multiple priorities and adapt to change within a fast-paced medical environment
- Knowledge and ability to use Internet, MS Word & Excel
- Working knowledge of insurance types, terminology and processes
- $18.00 - $20.00 / hour depending on experience
