Organization Overview:

Girl Scouts of Southwest Indiana (GSSI) serves more than 4,000 girls and 1,200 adult volunteers across 11 counties. As part of the nationally recognized Girl Scouts of the USA (GSUSA), we empower girls to develop courage, confidence, and character to make the world a better place. Our programs focus on leadership development, outdoor adventure, STEM, entrepreneurship, and life skills, all within a supportive, inclusive environment.

Position Summary:

HR Solutions is proud to partner with GSSI in seeking a visionary and dynamic CEO to lead the organization with passion, innovation, and a steadfast commitment to empower EVERY girl. The CEO will champion the council’s strategic direction while overseeing all aspects of its operations. This inspiring leader will serve as the primary spokesperson and will adeptly navigate both internal operations and external partnerships, fostering strong relationships across diverse communities and guiding the organization with strategic clarity, thoughtful leadership, and a bold, future-focused mindset.

Responsibilities:
 
  • Collaborate with the Board of Directors to develop and implement a forward-thinking strategic plan.
  • Serve as a dynamic ambassador for the organization, increasing visibility and credibility across the region.
  • Lead fundraising strategy to diversify and grow revenue through individual giving, corporate partnerships, grants, and events.
  • Cultivate relationships with donors, funders, and key stakeholders to enhance mission investment.
  • Oversee organizational operations, ensure financial stability, efficiency, and compliance with all laws and Girl Scout policies.
  • Manage an annual budget and ensure transparency and risk management.
  • Direct the development and delivery of impactful, girl-centered programming and membership services.
  • Lead the development, implementation, and ongoing evaluation of the council’s crisis management plans, including emergency preparedness, response protocols, and communication strategies.
  • Serve as the primary decision-maker during crisis situations, ensuring coordination with law enforcement, emergency services, GSUSA, and other relevant stakeholders as needed.
  • Partner with the Board of Directors to ensure effective governance, strategic alignment, and performance evaluation.
  • Support board recruitment, development, and engagement.
  • Ensure alignment with GSUSA policies and Girl Scout traditions.
  • Participate in all meetings, training, calls, and conferences required by GSUSA and GS affiliated groups.
  • Provides strategic oversight of council-owned property, Camp Koch, a 500+ acre camp with year-round programming and an on-site ranger.

Qualifications:
 
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of executive or senior role experience in the community impact or non-profit industry; working with or serving youth is highly preferred
  • Demonstrated success in fundraising, strategic planning, and board relations.
  • Must have a strong track record of leading, inspiring, and developing a high-performing staff team that reflects the diversity and values of the community.
  • Ability to Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, equity, and continuous learning.
